Apprentice from Royal Greenland's logistics department on a visit to the United Kingdom
As part of Royal Greenland's educational programme a number of young people travel the world every year and learn about Royal Greenland's international organization. This Spring, Ludvig Petersen from Group Logistics in Greenland spent two weeks in the UK, visiting Royal Greenland's local sales office gaining insight into how we distribute Greenlandic products and manage logistics in the important UK market.
During his stay, Ludvig and the UK logistics department visited various locations. First and foremost HSH, the UK based partner cold store in Grimsby. Here Ludvig was able to experience the full end-to-end supply chain by seeing the Greenlandic prawns at the very last stop before being sent out to customers.
In addition, Ludvig and his British colleagues participated in a Supply Chain Expo in Milton Keynes north of London. The purpose of the visit was to experience current barriers and obstacles in the UK from a supply chain perspective and how to overcome them. This also included some upcoming legislation changes on UK imports and new product development from an automated robotics perspective.
When telling about his stay in the UK, Ludvig says: 'It was very educational to experience the large and complex logistics set-up in a market like the UK and at the same time a pleasure to spend time with my British colleagues, who taught me a lot that helps increase my understanding of Royal Greenland's international organization'.
At the sales office in Manchester, Ludvig met the entire UK team and was introduced to all aspects of working in an international sales office; from distribution, technical, sales and marketing. Also there was time for a real 'store-check' in UK supermarkets where Ludvig and saw how Royal Greenland's products are presented on the shelves to UK consumers.
Earlier this year, Ludvig visited the frozen seafood aisle of a famous UK Supermarket
